It does not work properly on old phones…

    John Xie

    Which phones in particular?

  2. Edvinas

I don’t know exactly what model it was (phone wasn’t mine) but it was nokia running symbian (i might be wrong but i think it was nokia n95). It’s mostly unusable :(

    John Xie

Ok, will look into it, thanks!

  3. Deluxor

Correct the bugs of the site first.

    John Xie

    Thanks. Will look into this.

  4. Royi

What about Open ID sign in?
Moreover, could you make the video player HTML5 based?

    Thanks.

    John Xie

    Hi Royi

    1) Open ID is something low priority, you can already use with Facebook/Twitter connect.

    2) Video player HTML5 based is something we’ll look into for sure :)

    Cheers

  5. Ninad

    Gr8 !
    That’s cool :)

    John Xie

    :)

Is it possible to have some control over the thumbnails for a specific album? Sometimes the thumbnail crops the image awkwardly and it looks pretty bad

    John Xie

We are fixing the cropping soon, so no worries. I assume you are talking about the “Grid Mode” or your “Profile” right?

    Nuuby

Yep, I do. Thanks for the info

    John Xie

    Pleasure! :)

    Hey Guys!
Still waiting for the dark mode of the website!
So many times when I show of darker photos they’re just over-blinded by the bright look.

Give us 3 options nearly white(as now)/ grey /darkgrey and you’ll open whole new dimensions for viewing media. If you then make those options linkable, so we decide how others see our galleries, then your website becomes a really alternative many of those web portfolios!

Don’t miss out on that chance, for there are so many great features about your service!

    John Xie

Thanks for the suggestion and we will definitely look into it. Stay tuned on the blog ! :)

Are you aware that Minus.com has bad Unicode implementation?

If I upload a file from my Mac to Minus, and its filename contains Bulgarian letters, the uploaded file displays properly in Minus.com, but when it is downloaded (on different OS) its name is broken (replaced by unreadable entities).
We’re in 21! century. Fix this ASAP, please.
    E.g.
It is not polite to guess wnat may be: %D0%94%D1%8A%D0%B3%D0%B0-%D0%9C%D0%B5%D1%87%D1%82%D0%B0_210%D1%85148%2B3_%D0%9A%D0%9E%D0%A0%D0%98%D0%A6%D0%98_%D0%BF%D0%B5%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%82.pdf

It is good to know Minus.com devs do implement more mobile features, but I guess it would be better if those are built on a stable Unicode ground. Which is not the case of the current Minus.com state. Minus.com re-encode all filenames of non-Roman resources.

It is not very polite to send DL links to other users, and ask them to rename the files that have Bulgarian names. All the time.

Please, implement better language support for non-Roman, and non-Latin alphabets when files are downloaded.

    John Xie

    Thanks for the detailed comment!

This will be addressed and fixed asap :) Hope you otherwise like the recent new features on http://minus.com/explore !

The pages on the notification page *minus.com/notifications* are bugged for me on Chrome and FF. They currently look like this http://i.minus.com/jbxjJeXo4JfqfP.png

Noticed the thumbs up/down feature. Thumbs up is nice but I’m one of those that feel that a thumbs down is redundant. The new previews on the feed and explore are nice btw.

    John Xie

    Thanks!

    1) Will investigate the notifications bug

    2) Will definitely look into Thumbs down and possibly removing that :)

    Cheers

  10. Nuuby

    A few other bugs.

    - When clicking on a thumbnail in grid mode the expanded image pops up, the date displays incorrectly. It always shows 7 days for me.

    - Sort by created and modified in grid mode doesn’t seem to be working properly

    - The first image is always highlighted when viewing in grid mode unless linked to some other image, not sure if bug.

    John Xie

    Hi Nuuby

Thanks for the awesome feedback as usual.

    1) The date is fixed now

    2) We will work on this asap

    3) It is to highlight the image you came from, we’ll fix that soon!

If you have any other suggestions please let us know and feel free to email info@minus.com directly as well!

I am still thinking that old gray-red colors were far better than current ubiquitous awful, treacle orange. See your old video with old logo and typography here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=trc0wIzMXSI

And “toggle view” icons should be in the right down corner, text to current “back to top”.

    John Xie

Thanks. We made some changes recently and it is darker now. Hope you like it.

Im Sure That i had already written that but i can’t see my comment.
Pls support the Nokia n9 (os is Meego Harmatan) with an app (qt?) or redirecting the n9 browser to the mobile site (i Couldn’t find a link so i think it’s managed by cookie or user agent only)

    Sry for my broken English

    John Xie

Unfortunately we don’t have the resources to support more browsers at the moment but we will soon. Stay tuned!

  13. wmq

Please redesign your Android app, as it looks awful on the newer Android versions – ICS and Jelly Bean. Please follow the User Interface Guidelines: http://developer.android.com/design/index.html

    Daniel Leong

We’ve got a brand new interface for the Android app in the final testing phases. Look out for the update soon! :)

    wmq

    :)

I own a Samsung G S3. Problem. I save the images to my external SD. It is not possible to upload them automatic :( .
Also there should be an option to only upload on wifi.

    Daniel Leong

    Hello,

The Android app does not currently support any form of automatic upload, but it’s definitely something we’re considering for the future. The option for “camera” in the Settings refers to the Aviary image editing software included with Minus, and is unrelated to uploads.

We have plans to improve the upload experience for version 3.1.1 of the Android app– this will may automatic retries, delaying until Wifi is available, etc. Please look out for it! :)

    Cheers,
    Daniel

iphone app, any way to get hi res images on a double tap or something? i cant figure it out! saving the image only saves this bad lo res version.

    Aaron

    Hi Jason,

There is currently no way to retrieve the high resolution version of an image in the iOS app. Look out for that feature in the updated version, though!

    Thanks,

    Aaron

  16. jason

    aaron, i can’t wait! thanks!!

  17. Nuuby

Just wondering, but how is an image deemed mature. From users reporting the file?

    John Xie

Yes. We may add NSFW options in the future as well for users to tag their own uploads. Hope you like the recent changes though :)

  18. Tried tapping the “sign in” link on your site via my iPad and it wouldn’t work. Found this blog post amd was annoyed there was no specific URL for a mobile browser version of Minus since simply pulling up the site in Safari on my iPad isn’t showing me a site that works. :/

    John Xie

Thanks, we will investigate this soon. Sorry for the trouble!

    thepete

    OK, cool. Thanks!
